This month the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee kicked off their second annual “Give thanks. Give hope.” fundraising campaign. Sixty-one of our wonderful storeowners signed up to participate, and Learning Express has been recognized as a national partner. St. Jude is one of those organizations that really speaks for itself. The work they do is incredible, and Learning Express is proud to join them in their mission.
I’m going to clear the stage this week and leave you with a few stories from the kids and families whose lives have been touched by St. Jude’s, but first I’ll make a quick pitch. Contact your local store to see if they are supporting the "Give thanks. Give hope." campaign, or donate online. It’s a cause worth fighting for.
About St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is the world’s epicenter for research and treatment of childhood catastrophic diseases. Since opening in 1962, St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and more than 70 foreign countries. Research discoveries at St. Jude are shared freely with the worldwide medical community, and have helped push the overall survival rate for childhood cancer from less than 20% in 1962 to more than 80% today. ALSAC, the hospital’s fundraising arm, covers all costs associated with patient care beyond those covered by insurance. Families who have no insurance are never asked to pay.
